I was born on 16th March 1943 at St Anne’s hospital in Maylands. My first memory is of Orange Grove. Mum and Dad bought a five-acre property on the corner of Maddington Road and Grant Street. The original dwelling was a weatherboard shed with a tin roof. As time progressed a brick and tile roof was attached to the shed.

Pop was always a frustrated farmer (1947)
After the property at Orange Grove was fenced Pop bought a cow to provide the family with milk. The first cow was named Flossie, a Jersey, she was placid and easy to milk. Pop then decided to expand the operation and mated her with a Red Poll. Flossie duly had her calf. The result though was not that good for me.
